Jet Star presents: The Producer Series – Courtney Cole

The best artists are always part of a great camp headed by a visionary record producer. This series celebrates that very person, the producer. Courtney Cole is no doubt one of the finest producers from Jamaica. Whilst Dancehall enjoyed its peak during the early 90s, Cole’s record label ‘Roof International’ became home to some of the biggest chart toppers including Cutty Ranks’ ‘Who Say Me Done’ and ‘God Alone’ by Little Hero. However, this was just the start as Cole later went on to work with a plethora of renowned artists including the legendary Garnett Silk.

Silk worked to record a collection of songs at the producer's Ocho Rios studio. Among them were the hits ‘Mama’, ‘Seven Spanish Angels’ and a cover of the Johnny Nash classic ‘I Can See Clearly Now’. In honour of Silk, Roof International posthumously bundled up these early singles and other material recorded for the ‘Nothing Can Divide Us’ album.

All of these works combined leave no doubts that Courtney Cole has a firm place in our Producer hall of fame. Some of his biggest productions can be streamed or downloaded now as part of Jet Star’s ‘Producer Series’.
